TATTOO AFTERCARE

SECOND SKIN* IS APPLIED TO MOST TATTOOS AFTER THEY ARE FINISHED

*What is second skin? Second skin is a waterproof bandage that acts as a barrier, protecting your tattoo from dirt/bacteria, while still being breathable enough to allow healing.

︎ After getting your tattoo, leave the saniderm on for 3-5 days. During this time, the bandage will collect blood & plasma. THIS IS NORMAL. If the fluids within the second skin start leaking out of the bandaged area, take off the second skin immediately.

︎ Avoid intense workouts. Sweat can collect under the second skin which can cause complications like infection to occur.

︎ Showering regularly is encouraged with second skin on as long as it has no leaks / is airtight.

︎ It is very normal for the bandage to come off before or during the 3-5 days. Some people experience allergic reactions to the adhesive on the saniderm. When it doubt, take it off if it feels wrong.

AFTER BANDAGE AFTERCARE

︎ To minimize irritation while removing the second skin, it is reccomended to peel the second skin away, and perpendicular to the body. This helps the adhesive stick to the bandage and not the tattoo. Removing the second skin under warm water is also reccomended.

︎ After removing the saniderm, wash the tattoo with warm water and UNSCENTED soap. I reccomend Dial golden or Dr.Bronners hemp baby soap. Pat with paper towel and air dry.

︎ Apply a thin layer of unscented lotion. I recommend CeraVe fragrance free. This allows the tattoo to be moisturized and prevents the area from scabbing over as much. DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH THE AREA. SCRATCHING WILL INCREASE THE CHANCE OF INK FALLOUT. If you must, you can apply an ice pack to the area over 2 layers of CLEAN paper towel or saran wrap.
︎ Repeat steps for 3 weeks. Lotion 2x/day and clean 1x/day. KEEP YOUR TATTOO CLEAN! DO NOT SOAK IN WATER WHILE FRESH.
