About Brat

Ren Ye
(They) is a Chinese American creative living in Los Angeles. Born and raised in Chicago, Ren left the Midwest to attend school at the University of Southern California, and graduated with a degree in Media Arts + Practice in 2022. They enjoy meeting new people, gossiping with their two cats at home, and window seats on planes

Ren had the privelege of being surrounded by a supportive queer community from a very young age. They accredit much of their confidence and ability to live authentically to the chosen family that raised them. Because of this, Much of thier art focuses on the intersection between queer and cultural identity. Raised from a young age by two groups; their chosen family, and their blood related family, Ren experience mirrors the struggles of many QPOC. Their motivation to keep creating comes from the QPOC individuals theyve met along the way, and their longing to find an answer to a longstanding question: can one find a balance between cultural obligation, and personal satisfaction. Ren hopes that through their art, they can find that middle ground, while also becoming more in tune with their chinese heritage.

I strive to create a comfortable environment for my clients and I to share during each session. Getting a tattoo can be an extremely vulnerable experience. Every individual deserves to  have their voice heard before, during, and after the session. I listen and work with my clients in order to create a piece we both love. If you are not 100% on a piece, I also  make very it clear that you do not have to get the tattoo even if you are at the studio. If there is any feedback you have to make our interaction/my future interactions with clients better, please let me know! I am always learning and growing. Any advice is welcome.
